How does Effort Check work in Handler?

After your second working set of an exercise, Handler asks “How did that set feel?”: pick Too Easy, Solid, Hard But Good or Maxed Out, tap Continue, and it suggests a new target for the sets you have left.

Feature page: Effort Check

Step by step

  1. Log your first two working sets as usual. Warm-up sets don't count.
  2. When the rest screen asks “How did that set feel?”, select Too Easy, Solid, Hard But Good or Maxed Out.
  3. Tap Continue.
  4. If a change is proposed, you see your current target next to the suggested one. Tap Apply & Update Next Set or Keep It the Same.
  5. Check your remaining sets, then log them as usual.

Handler uses a 2.5 kg grid. In pounds, displayed rounding varies by screen. On an assisted machine the direction flips: Too Easy means less assistance. Suggested rest stays between 30 seconds and 5 minutes.

Alpha Progression Pro also changes set targets during a workout, from your logged reps and an optional reps-in-reserve number, once an exercise has history. Handler asks in plain words instead of a number.

Frequently asked questions

Does Effort Check change the set I just finished?

No. Completed working sets stay as you logged them. The suggestion is for the sets you have left in that exercise.

Why didn't Effort Check show up?

It asks once per exercise, after the second working set. It skips warm-up sets and Quick Gym workouts, and it stays quiet while you have an open pain report.
